Project Scope
The 2006 Emergency Preparedness Grant and the second year of the Pandemic Influenza Grant guidance require community preparedness planning to address the special needs of vulnerable populations. The goal of the project is to research information on special populations that exist from state and federal information sources and map the data through a web based GIS system.   The project will provide this information to each county so that local efforts can focus on the planning for special populations rather than researching data.   On September 26, 2006, a group of local health department representatives met with the project team to discuss local needs on this issue.  The project team is currently working with staff at KDEM and KDHE to coordinate efforts between public health and emergency management at the state level.
